Marty Mjelleli beginns his 15th year coaching, he spent previous seasons in the USHL, NAHL, NCAA, and USA hockey.
Mjelleli played baseball and hockey at Shattuck St. Mary’s Prep school where he won the 2001 USA Hockey National Championship. In junior hockey, he was a captain with the Des Moines Buccaneers, garnered 2004 USHL All-Star team honors and is a member of the Buccaneers Hall of Fame.
A cum Laude graduate of St. Cloud State University, Mjelleli played for the Huskies from 04-08. He earned NCAA Hockey Humanitarian recognition, was a three-time WCHA All-Academic team member and was named to the All-America First Team for the Lowe’s Senior Class Award. In 2016, he received Graduate of the Last Decade Award at SCSU.
Mjelleli would later play professionally for the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL, an affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche. He finished his career in Europe playing in the Netherlands and Germany. He currently resides in Eden Prairie with his wife Shannon and children, Milania, Rocco, and Louie.
